Our Editorial Board

Philologia is edited by a group of College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences students working toward displaying the efforts of members of one of the largest colleges at Virginia Tech. They come from various disciplines and work during the academic year to promote quality undergraduate research in the journal.

Editor-In-Chief

Emily Walters - Emily is a junior Literature and Professional & Technical Writing double major, hoping to pursue a minor in Language Sciences. In addition to working on the Philologia staff, Emily is the junior communication manager for the Hybrid Electric Vehicle Team of Virginia Tech. She is excited to lead Philologia and can't wait to see where the year takes us.

 

Managing Editor

Natalie Robertson - Natalie is a junior majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Professional Writing. She is an intern at Northrop Grumman, as well as a committee member of Virginia Tech's Student Conduct.

 

Associate Editors

Carson Barlett - Carson is a junior from Chester, Virginia majoring in Political Science, Multimedia Journalism, and Psychology.

Kara Heuple - Kara is a junior majoring in Fashion Design and Merchandising. Kara is a Liberal Arts and Human Sciences Ambassador as well as an active member of Fashion Merchandising and Design Society and the President of AATCC.

Daniel Nozick - Daniel will graduate in Spring 2016 with a degree in Professional & Technical Writing. Upon graduating, he plans to travel before pursuing a career in the publishing industry.

Anna Pope - Anna is a junior at Virginia Tech pursuing a double major in International Studies and History, and a Spanish minor. Anna also works as a copywriter for PRISM, a Writing Center coach, and volunteers with Virginia Tech's Relay for Life.

Zach VeShancey - Zach is a Senior, double-majoring in English Literature and Language and Economics (Science). After graduation he hopes to either conduct research for a policy studies organization or go to graduate school to study social sciences. He enjoys Terry Pratchett and citing Wikipedia.

 

Layout Editors

Libby Howe - Libby is a senior English major with hopes of one day winning American Ninja Warrior, owning a pug named Smoosh and a Great Dane named Stretch simultaneously, and writing/publishing a novel. After graduation, she plans to continue her education at Virginia Tech in the Masters in English program.

Daniel Darnell - Daniel is a junior currently majoring in Philosophy and pursuing a double major in Visual Communication Design. He is also co-founder and creative director of SoHHL.

Chantal Skubic - Chantal is a senior Marketing Management major with minors in Communication and International Studies. She finds the variety and depth of undergraduate research at Virginia Tech very intriguing and is eager to work on the Philologia staff.

 

Social Media Manager

Erin Fisher - Erin is a junior majoring in Professional and Technical Writing with a minor in Communication. She is a Copy Chief for The Collegiate Times, an Associate Editor for Philologia Undergraduate Research Journal, and Web Assistant for Posh Seven Magazine.

 

Faculty Liason

Tyler Gass - Tyler is a senior from Haymarket, Virginia. He is studying Political Science, Sociology, and History with the hopes of attending law school next fall.
